This past weekend, I headed back down to my old stomping grounds to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. Of course, I couldn’t pass up a chance to go to one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles–On the Waterfront Café. A couple friends and I discovered this gem a couple years ago, and since then it has been my go-to place to unwind on a Friday night–sipping delicious German beer fresh from the tap, sitting right next to the ocean, watching the sun set.
I remember, once, I lost a bet after partaking in more than a few pints of beer here. The punishment was that my friend tossed me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and dumped me into the Pacific Ocean. Needless to say, it was a very wet and embarrassing bus ride back home.
I have tried a couple of their beers and a few other things on the menu, but my favorite combination is the Erdinger Dunkel with an avocado and Swiss cheese burger. There’s just something oh-so-right about the rich flavors of the dark beer complementing the fresh, juicy burger. Straight from the tap, the Erdinger Dunkel is one of the best beers I have tasted. Now, I am not a religious person, but the first time I tasted that beer was about as close to a religious experience that I could possibly have.
